Slack and Teams Apps Privacy Notice
This notice covers the Forge apps for Slack and Microsoft Teams. It supplements the Forge Privacy Notice and the Cybrary privacy policy.
Version 1.0 · Effective October 4, 2026
What the Slack and Teams apps read
The Forge app for Slack and Microsoft Teams reads messages only where it is addressed: @mentions of the app and direct messages to it. An administrator channel view can read up to 50 recent messages in a channel the admin opens, to help run an exercise. The app does not read other channels or messages.
What we store
The installation record (workspace identifier and a sealed access token), identity links you create between your chat account and your Forge account, and recorded coordinator commands (first 2,000 characters) for the exercise they belong to. Message text being processed sits in a work queue briefly and is wiped when the job finishes; a failed job's text is kept no longer than 7 days.
Never used for training
Slack and Teams content is never used to train any AI model, and is never sold or shared for advertising. Chat replies from the app are deterministic — no model writes them.
Uninstall and deletion
When an administrator removes the app from a workspace, the app's access token is erased immediately and the installation record and that workspace's identity and channel links are deleted no later than 14 business days after uninstall, as Slack's developer policy requires. You can remove your own identity link at any time from your Forge settings.
Incidents
If a security incident affects Slack or Teams data, we notify affected customers and the platform provider promptly. Questions: privacy@cybrary.it.
